At the risk of sounding like a monomaniac on the subject of newspapers and the internet, Murdoch has just outed himself as a moron by opining that what Google does with its search and news facilities is ‘steal’ content from honest to goodness media barons like him. Listen up, buttercup: Google merely provides a portal whereby people can access your content. It makes no money from any cache it keeps of your sites. It makes no money by serving snippets of your content as part of its news facility. What it does do is send millions of people every day to your properties at no cost to you.

In fact, if you’re so fucked off with them, Rupert, deny access to their spiders and get your sites de-indexed. Problem solved. Oh – and stop running AdSense on your sites and just sell banner advertising. Put your money where your mouth is or shut the fuck up.
