Google’s Interface… is it really all that?

You’ll have heard down the years how Google’s interface is a textbook example of clean, functional design. Really? I’m not so sure any more.

Given that shedloads of people apparently struggle with reading and comprehension, what do you think they’d make of this pile of garbled text, great swathes of bolding, masses of underlining and truncated sentences?

What do you suppose “Cached” or “Similar pages” means to the non-tech audience (i.e., pretty much everybody)?
